Key Features:
|
Scan and calibrate your own maps or charts.
Easy to use Windows interface allows you to upload and download waypoints, tracks, and routes to and from most types of hand held GPS receivers. OziExplorer will work with GARMIN, Magellan, Lowrance, Eagle and MLR GPS receivers for the upload & download of GPS data. Digital maps used with OziExplorer cannot be transferred to GPS units.
note: OziExplorer cannot upload maps to any Mapping GPS (this means Garmin, Magellan, and all others). The only software that can do this is that provided by the GPS manufacturer using the maps provided by the manufacturer (e.g. Garmin's MapSource CD's and Magellan's MapSend CD's)
In general, recreational type GPS receivers (Garmin, Magellan) use vector maps so even if it was possible for 3rd parties to upload maps OziExplorer uses raster maps (images of maps), therefore GPS receivers would not accept a raster map upload anyway. Raster to vector conversions have been tried- and the results were not acceptable.
Pre-plan your next trip on a digital version of your favorite topo map, then load your waypoints, routes, or tracks to your GPS for in-field navigation. After the trip download your GPS data and update the map to show all the roads and trails you’ve used plus your new waypoints.
Ozi imports many types of digital imagery such as Spectrum Digital Imaging Topo maps, Digital Ocean Nautical charts, Maptech marine charts, plus air photos & satellite images (.tfw / geotiff), NorthStar Digital GeoTIFF maps
Scout out new areas using Ozi's real time moving map and your laptop PC. GPS feeds your current position to the PC which displays it on the digital map allowing you to track new roads as you drive them.
Customize your digital maps by adding text, symbols, and coordinate labels. Then print a hard copy for your next field trip or e-mail it to a friend.
Calculate area within a tracklog (field acres!) Click here for example. Specify permanent Map features and display a picture for each feature. Measure distances between map features or waypoints.
